Food rant 2 - White refined sugar
A book on healthy eating started of with “pure, white and deadly” as a description for refined white sugar. Even though most of my recipes are healthy by their very nature, I do not claim to be a healthy chef so I do use white sugar but I will concede that its only use is to add sweetness to a dish without complicating the flavour.
I used to eat sugar by the kilo in the guise of sweets, marzipan or just as sugar but after researching the implications of this deadly powder I have cut down on it significantly. I do not particularly want to preach or rant about health as that is not why I have written this book but I will say that sugar has no nutrients and actually uses the body’s nutrients and minerals to absorb it.
